Who and what this covers

Across is an independent suite of tools based in Massachusetts, United States. In this policy, “Across,” “we,” and “us” refer to the operator of:

This policy also covers their subdomains and related services that link to it. External websites you visit through our tools have their own privacy practices.

What happens when you visit

We use Cloudflare to host and deliver our websites and help keep them secure. Handling a website request involves technical information such as your IP address, browser information, requested address, and request time. Cloudflare may process this information to deliver content, prevent abuse, and maintain its services.

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand traffic and website performance. Cloudflare states that this analytics service does not use cookies or browser storage for analytics, or track individual users over time through fingerprinting. This is separate from the technical processing needed to host and protect a website.

We do not currently use advertising pixels, session replay, or behavioral advertising tools.

Information you choose to send

If you contact us, we receive the information you provide, such as your name, email address, message, and any other details you include.

Our website contact forms use Formspree, which processes submissions and related technical information to deliver messages and help prevent spam. Correspondence may also remain in our email records so we can respond and follow up.

Please avoid sending passwords, payment details, or sensitive personal information through contact forms. Only include information about other people when it is necessary and you are entitled to share it.

Read Formspree’s privacy policy.

Orbit and your browser

Orbit currently stores preferences, such as selected cities, currencies, units, and appearance settings, in your browser’s local storage. These settings are not currently synced to an Across account.

You can export settings using Orbit’s available controls. Clearing the site’s browser storage removes locally stored settings, but does not remove copies you previously exported.

Weather, currency, and similar tools use external data services. Depending on the tool, a request may include a selected location, coordinates, currency codes, and ordinary connection information. Those providers process requests under their own privacy policies.

If you choose a feature that uses your device’s location, your browser asks for permission. You can decline or revoke that permission through your browser or device settings. Choosing a city manually does not require permission to access your device’s location.

Features that are still being built

Across account sign-in and sync are not currently available. We are developing a shared Across identity and additional free and paid features.

Before enabling features that introduce materially different data practices, we will update this policy and explain relevant choices where you use them. Where required, we will ask for consent.

Planned features include:

  • Accounts, saved preferences, and syncing across devices.
  • Track monitoring of public webpages, screenshots, and change alerts.
  • Relay Sources, Exchanges, publishing, public profiles, and link measurement.
  • Payments, connected services, and AI assistance.

These are planned capabilities, not a statement that their associated data collection is already active. This policy does not authorize unspecified future uses of information collected today.

Personal, organizational, and public information

Our design principle for organization features is simple: paying for access should not give an organization access to someone’s private activity.

As these features become available, we will explain the boundaries between personal information, shared organization content, and public content. A shared Across identity will not, by itself, expose your activity across the Suite to other users or organizations.

Relay’s planned boundaries include:

  • Personal Sources, reading history, Saved Items, notes, and private drafts remain personal.
  • Organization administrators receive permitted organization information and published results, rather than unrestricted access to personal activity.
  • A Delegate receives only the authority expressly granted to act for a person or brand.
  • Public profiles and external publication require an explicit publishing choice.
  • Link measurement reports interactions; a click is not proof that someone read or understood the destination.

Public content can be copied or indexed by others. Information already sent to an external destination may remain there after removal from Across.

Public webpages monitored by Track may contain personal information, such as names or photographs. Being publicly accessible does not remove the privacy interests of the people shown.

Cookies, storage, and marketing

Storage used to remember preferences is different from advertising tracking. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use analytics cookies. Hosting, security, or other functional services may use necessary storage or cookies depending on the feature and configuration.

We do not currently use information from these sites for targeted advertising.

If we introduce optional marketing or tracking tools, we will explain them and provide the choices required by applicable law before activating them. Updating this page is not a substitute for consent where consent is required.

Why we use information

We use information to:

  • Deliver the websites and features you request.
  • Remember settings where you choose to save them.
  • Answer messages and provide support.
  • Understand website performance.
  • Prevent spam, abuse, and security problems.
  • Meet legal obligations and establish or defend legal claims.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on the basis appropriate to the activity: providing a requested service, legitimate interests in operating and protecting the sites and answering inquiries, consent where required, or legal obligations.

Who receives information

Information is shared with providers involved in delivering the relevant service, including Cloudflare, Formspree, and the data services used by individual tools.

We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We may disclose information when legally required or reasonably necessary to protect people, investigate abuse, or establish or defend legal rights. These purposes do not give unrelated users access to your information.

If ownership of Across changes, relevant information may be transferred as part of that change, subject to applicable law. We will provide notice of material changes to how information is handled and obtain consent where required.

Where information is processed

Across operates from the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries, where privacy protections can differ.

Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we must use an appropriate transfer mechanism or other lawful basis. You can contact us for information about safeguards relevant to your information.

Using our sites does not waive your privacy rights.

How long information is kept

Retention depends on the type of information and why it is needed:

  • Local preferences: remain until you remove them, the application removes them, or your browser clears them.
  • Contact messages: are kept as needed to answer you, maintain relevant correspondence, and address legal or security needs.
  • Technical records: follow the relevant provider’s settings and operational retention practices.

In deciding retention, we consider whether a request is still open, whether information remains necessary for its original purpose, and whether a legal or security obligation requires it.

Deletion may not remove every copy immediately. Backups and records needed for legal or security purposes may follow different schedules. Clearing browser data does not delete correspondence or provider records.

Security

We use measures intended to protect information, including the protections supplied by our hosting and service providers. No website, device, or transmission method can guarantee complete security.

If you believe information has been exposed or misused through Across, contact [email protected]. Please provide enough detail to help us investigate without sending additional sensitive information unnecessarily.

Your choices and rights

You can clear local browser data, change location permissions, and choose what to include in messages to us.

Depending on your location and the information involved, you may have rights to:

  • Access or receive a copy of your information.
  • Correct or delete information.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent for future processing that relies on it.
  • Complain to your local data-protection authority.

Send requests to [email protected]. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify your identity or a representative’s authority. Please do not send identity documents unless we explain why they are needed.

We will respond within applicable legal time limits and explain any lawful restriction or refusal. You do not have to give up your rights or agree to a payment to make a privacy request. Contacting us first is not a condition of contacting a regulator.

Adults and professional use

Across is intended for adults and working professionals. Our services are not offered for use by people under 18.

If you believe someone under 18 has provided personal information through our services, contact us so we can review it and take appropriate action. Future school or youth-oriented offerings would require separate arrangements.

Changes to this policy

We will update the date at the top when this policy changes. For material changes, we will provide additional notice where appropriate and obtain consent where required.

Contact [email protected] if anything here is unclear.
